Recycle Christmas Trees seven days. The parks system will process the trees. In 2015, wood chips will be available free to the public at Orion oaks County Park on select days. PELEASE NOTE: No charge to drop off trees; No commercial trees accepted, and; Plastic, tinsel and wire mush be removed from trees. Extended recycling dates through Feb. 3, 2015 at Independence Oaks and Orion Oaks only.

Sunday. Oakland County Parks and Recreation manages nest
boxes at seven parks for the Eastern Bluebird and other native cavity nesters. Nest boxes are monitored by trained volunteers through the Oakland County Parks and Recreation citizen science program. This training provides information about birds, monitoring techniques and other volunteer requirements. Volunteers are asked to visit assigned nest boxes weekly from April–July and record statistics about the birds using the boxes. Training is a refresher for past volunteers. Friday. Oakland County Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers to conduct frog survey work at two parks. Volunteers assist staff conducting night surveys during April, May and June.
Survey methods are designed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Frog Survey Program. At the training, you will learn to recognize the calls of singing frogs, along with their life history. Anyone interested in participating in the Oakland County Parks frog survey is welcome to attend. This training is a refresher for past volunteers and it is open to the public.
