Community Profile

Since its incorporation in 1942, Hazel Park has been a vibrant member of the Oakland County community, and those who call us home are proud of our distinct history.

Well positioned at the I-75 and I-696 intersection in Southeastern Oakland County, Hazel Park is at the heart of the Tri-County Metro Area. Our 2.8 square mile community is home to almost 19,000 residents, the Viking Ice Arena and the Hazel Park Raceway, which is Michigan’s largest horse racing facility.

While proud of our community’s heritage, Hazel Park is also looking toward the future and “A New Beginning.” In partnership with the Michigan Suburbs Alliance and the Eight Mile Boulevard Association, we have simplified the re-development process while revitalizing Eight Mile Road.

In addition, City Hall and the Downtown Development Authority are working closely with neighborhoods and businesses to actively support the growth and development  of Hazel Park. Look anywhere within this great city, from the new 48-unit luxury condominium development to the revitalization of Eight Mile Boulevard and you will see a city that is threaded together with hardworking people who take pride in their community.

If you haven’t visited Hazel Park before, or if you are thinking about investing in a business or property, now is the time! We at City Hall are taking great strides to strengthen our community and believe that it is our mission to bring about “A New Beginning in Hazel Park.”
