Community Profile
Founded in 1837, the Charter Township of Lyon is characterized by recreational amenities and picturesque vistas. Lyon is also home to a fast-growing industrial, research and manufacturing base. Located in southwestern Oakland County, this 32 square-mile community is home to over 13,000 people and is situated between I-275 and US-23 along the I-96 corridor.
Known for its scenic charm, Lyon Township boasts a 110-acre community park, several golf courses, the Haas Lake Park campground, the Huron Valley Trail, and Lyon Oaks County Park, which features a fenced Bark Park and 18-hole golf course. Island Lake State Recreation Area and Kensington Metropark border the township and provide over 8,000 acres of parkland. Recreational activities include swimming, boating, hunting, biking, cross country skiing and snowmobiling.
