SEMCOG Profile

Founded in 1928, the Orchard Lake Village is residential community featuring a rich heritage and abundant natural beauty. Located on the southern edge of Oakland County’s “lakes area,” this 4 square-mile community is approximately 43 percent water and home to 2,200 people.

Surrounding its namesake, Orchard Lake, the city features recreational swimming, boating and the geologically unique Apple Island. A 50-acre nature preserve and the West Bloomfield Trail Network offer year-round recreation. This idyllic setting is home the Orchard Lake Country Club. This private club offers members an 18-hole golf course, tennis, swimming and sailing.

Designated a Michigan Historic site and placed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 115 acre Orchard Lake School campus is home to the prestigious St. Mary’s Preparatory school for boys. The Orchard Lake St. Mary’s summer camp and St. Mary’s Polish Country Fair are also on the grounds.
