Oxford is one of 11 communities participating in Main Street Oakland County (MSOC), an economic development program specifically targeted to provide technical assistance to the 30 traditional downtowns in the County. These historic commercial districts each have a unique sense of place which, as a part of a national trend, are becoming increasingly popular as places to do business, shop, dine, live and experience family activities.
MSOC is now a partner with the National Trust's Main Street Center, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Founded in 1980, the National Trust's Main Street Center's Four Point Approach of: Organization, Design, Promotion and Economic Restructuring, has been successfully utilized in over 2,000 downtowns in 40 states since 1980.
For more information, contact Bob Donohue, MSOC Program Coordinator, Principal Planner at 248-858-5444.

Establish in 1971 the Northeast Oakland Historical Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the area's history. The volunteer-run museum is situated in a former Oxford Savings Bank, and is home to thousands of items of local historical significance. Antique quilts, paintings, furniture and personal items fill the main floor. The lower level houses a turn-of-the-century kitchen, tools from the Tunstead Tin Shop and a myriad of antique hand tools from local farms and homes. In addition to the numerous displays, the Museum Library has family records, and historic photos of Oxford High School graduates from the 1890s through present day.
