Hunting Info

In this designated area, hunting will be in accordance with Michigan Department of Natural Resources public land regulations. This program will help control the park's deer population.

Hikers and hunters will share the park during the season. Hunt responsibly.

Hunters are HIGHLY encouraged to take adult does to help manage the population.

Bucks taken from the park must have at least three points on one side, a spread out to the ears and medium to heavy base.

Deer harvested, or shot and not recovered, must be reported on forms submitted in the "Deer Harvest" collection box by the day use parking area or call 248-437-7345.

Park Rules

  • Trapping and firearms hunting of waterfowl/small game/deer is NOT permitted.

  • Tree stands and blinds must comply with State of Michigan regulations for public land. No screw-in steps.

  • Failure to comply with rules stated may result in loss of hunting privileges in the parks system.

  • No trail flagging material should be placed on trees, branches or other objects. Do not remove existing flagging.

  • ABSOLUTELY no marking or defacing of any tree, plant, shrub, etc.

  • Hours: 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.

  • Fires and overnight camping are not permitted at any time.

  • Obey safety zone signs for commercial/residential areas -Strictly Enforced

  • Uses of the Oakland County Parks are governed by the Park Rules and Regulations: enacted by the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission February 8, 1966 and with revisions most recent June, 2005. Copies can be requested by calling 248-858-0906.

  • Your help is important in keeping Oakland County Parks safe, clean and well maintained. Report park incidents, accidents, or vandalism to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4950.

    PARKING

    Highland Oaks deer hunters must park at the day use parking lot accessible off Milford Road. A valid Oakland County Parks vehicle permit is required. Unauthorized parked vehicles will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
