Waterford Oaks

Ladies walking through Waterford Oaks.Waterford Oaks is a 185-acre park near Pontiac, headquarters of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission, ACTION is the name of the game at Waterford Oaks:

  • More than three miles of hiking trails, including 1.5 miles paved trails. Geocaching available!
  • Waterford Oaks Waterpark features a wave-action pool, group raft ride and interactive water playground
  • Bicycle motocross track is open from early May through October, with practices Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Bike and helmet rentals are available, and clinics are offered throughout the season. USA BMX-sanctioned racing on Saturdays.
  • Paradise Peninsula Playscape is a universally-accessible playground that invites children and adults to explore and play. 
  • Sand volleyball and outdoor fitness equipment
  • Platform Tennis is Played October through April on two lighted courts. The platform surface is heated to remove ice and snow.
  • The Activity Center and Lookout Lodge are available for group rentals.
  • Picnic shelters are available for group rentals.
  • The Oakland County Market features a Farmers Market and Flea Market, operating four days a week.
  • The Family Sledding Hill at Waterford Oaks will be open daily (conditions permitting) from sunrise to sunset or as posted at the gate.  There is no charge to use the hill.
  • Greenhouse grows annual flowers for park entrances, golf course clubhouses, and conference center facilities. A group of dedicated volunteers oversee and facilitate all transplanting and plant production. It is located on Scott Lake Road between Watkins Lake Road and Dixie Highway.
  • Located near the Greenhouse is the "old Ernst Barn," which may be one of the oldest standing structures in Waterford Township. Staff continues to evaluate the operation of the Greenhouse and the feasibility of preserving the Ernst Barn as recreational or educational venues.
