The Wint Nature Center has been named one of the Top 10 Nature Centers in Southeast Michigan, by Metro Parent Magazine! "From in-house wildlife exhibits and trail hikes to crafts, major events and live animals eager to say "hey," don't miss this incredible recreational gem right in your own backyard!"

The Wint Nature Center provides exhibits and year-round educational programs conducted by park naturalists. Community outreach and specialized nature programs include Starlab, Nature Discovery, Catch the Reading Bug, and Scout Badge Days.

Please note that Oakland County Parks and Recreation staff routinely photographs and videotapes guests enjoying Oakland County Parks, facilities, events and equipment. These images may be used in print, visual presentations and on the website to promote the parks system. If you do not wish yourself and/or children to be photographed, please inform the photographer at that time. Enjoy your visit!

  Winter 2012 Program Schedule  

Celebrate Earth Day every day. Join forces with the National Wildlife Federation and Oakland County Parks by incorporating "Green Hour" activities into your daily routine. See www.greenhour.org for more ideas.

  • Look for shooting stars.
  • Play shadow games on a sunny day.
  • Go for a Bug-Hike.Draw the insects you find.
  • Take a walk and find things shaped like a circle.
  • Play tag outside.
  • Watch the sunset.
  • Hike and look for things that are pink.
    Put out seeds for the birds. Count how many come to eat in one hour.
  • Hike and make up a song about what you see.
    On your walk imitate animals you see.
  • Hop like a rabbit!
  • Soar like a bird!
  • Climb a tree. Fly a kite. Go for a bike ride.
  • Hike and make up silly names for the plants and animals you see.

Wednesday - Sunday 1 - 5 p.m.
Closed Monday and Tuesday

Field Trips, Birthday Parties and programs with advance registration:
Tuesday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday Noon - 5 p.m.

The new hours are part of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission's efforts to streamline operations and reduce costs while continuing to provide high quality service to our guests.

Park Hours of Operation:
Approximately 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset, or as posted at park entrance. Open year round. Closed Christmas Day.

Daily or annual vehicle permit required (prior to arrival, from late October through mid-May (permits are not always available at the park). View park fees and purchase permits online.
