Recreation Assistance Partnership Program

The Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission approved $150,000 to support the 2012 Recreation Assistance Partnership.

Initiated in 1982, the program grants recreation opportunities and experiences including outreach programs and bus transportation. RAPP is an element of the parks system’s evolving Strategic Master Plan to serve all areas and citizens of the County of Oakland, and to create community through people, parks and programs.

RAPP offers support in outreach programming to cities, villages and townships; community parks and recreation departments; schools; downtown development authorities; non-profit organizations; and underserved populations.

In 2012, RAPP will offer Get Outside! programs including GO!Cache and GO!Fish Clinics, Festival II, Bouncer and Mini Festival units, Retro Games, bus transportation and community  and recreation collaborations.

  • Each group is eligible for three outreach programs (listed above) plus one bus trip.
  • Community Collaborations are available to cities, villages and townships for large scale community events and festivals.
  • Recreation Collaborations area available to community recreation departments in the historic urban core areas of Oakland County as defined by the Main Street Oakland County program. http://www.oakgov.com/peds/program_service/main_street/msoccommunities.html
