Oakland County Parks is your link to fun, recreation and education in the outdoors. You'll find  nature centers, campgrounds, service project opportunities, picnic places and special discounts.

Badge Days
For Cub Scouts, Webelos, Daisys, Brownies and Girl Scouts. The Wint and Red Oaks Nature Centers offer Badge Days which fulfill all requirements necessary for scout badges. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

          Red Oaks Nature Center is located in Madison Heights.
Wint Nature Center Scout Programs   
          The Wint Nature Center is located in Independence Oaks County Park, Clarkston.

Nature Center Field Trips
Scheduled Badge Days don't fit your calendar? Call the Wint Nature Center to arrange a field trip just for your group of 15 or more. Programs can be tailored to fit your needs.

Parks are your perfect Picnic Place!
Is an end-of the-school-year/season picnic in your future?  Addison Oaks, Groveland Oaks, Independence Oaks and Lyon Oaks feature picnic shelters with cooking grills as well as playgrounds, hiking trails, swimming beach, boating and fishing, and even a nature center (Independence Oaks)!  In addition, two waterparks offer a splashing good time as well as picnic areas. Get picnic details here.  Don't forget to consider adding a Mobile Recreation unit for loads of supervised fun for all!

StarLab 
This  portable, inflatable planetarium can bring the wonder of the night sky indoors. A naturalist takes you on a guided tour of the current night sky which is projected on the inside of the dome. Programs can help teachers meet some Michigan Science Benchmarks. This program may also meet some scout badge requirements.

Camp Wilderness
Camp Wilderness at Independence Oaks is perfect for overnights, weekends and week-long campouts. Group camping is available year-round. Camp Wilderness includes two areas accommodating 60 or 100 campers -- with platform tents, pavilions, heated modern bathhouse, fire rings, benches, grills and picnic tables, water and electricity. 
 
Volunteer Opportunities
There's always something that needs to be done at the parks.  Volunteers can help on service or conservation projects -- for school groups and all scout levels, including Eagle, Cadet and Seniors. 

Fishing Programs
Learn to Fish programs at Addison Oaks, Groveland Oaks and Independence Oaks with loaner tackle (pole and tackle box). Or schedule the GO Fish! Mobile unit for your group.

Geocaching
Working on a Map and Compass or Orienteering badge? Discover this unique sport which uses satellites to tell your GPS (Global Positioning System) unit a person's position anywhere on earth! There's ongoing Geocaching at five Oakland County Parks! Beginner clinics are offered periodically. Schedule a visit by the GO! Cache Mobile Recreation Unit at 248-858-0916.

Need Transportation?
Why not use the parks' bus fleet? Special bus rental rates are available to youth groups.

Climbing Tower
Schedule a unique rock climbing experience for your group by reserving a mobile unit. Call Mobile Recreaton for details and cost at 248-858-0916.
