School Groups & Scout Programs

Oakland County Parks is your link to fun, recreation and education in the out-of-doors!

Choose from two Nature Centers with customizable program offerings, plus campgrounds and volunteer opportunities. We can even get you from Point A to Point B with our Mobile Recreation program.

Genisys Credit Union Reading Rangers
Let the Oakland County Parks reward your students for exercising their reading muscles. They can earn free passes to Red Oaks or Waterford Oaks Waterparks to exercise their swimming muscles during the summer! Details

Field Trips and Nature Discovery
Schools can schedule Nature Center field trips and tailor the program content to specific topics. Age-appropriate programs satisfy Michigan grade level content expectations for Michigan schools. Or have our naturalists bring interpretive programs for all ages to your group year-round, depending on staff availability. A great way to incorporate hands-on nature topics in your group's schedule. Contact Wint Nature Center for details.

StarLab
This portable planetarium can help your group learn about constellations and other astronomy topics. Grounded electricity and an indoor space of 23'x23' (minimum 11' ceiling) are required. You can also request Starlab for your nature center field trip! Call either nature center to schedule your out-of-this-world adventure!

Can't get here from there?
Use an Oakland County Parks & Recreation bus. Special bus rental rates are available to school groups. Book buses for your next field trip by calling 248-858-0916.

Are you in charge of the picnic this year?
Is an end-of the-school-year/season picnic in your future?  Addison Oaks, Groveland Oaks, Independence Oaks and Lyon Oaks feature picnic shelters with cooking grills as well as playgrounds, hiking trails, swimming beach, boating and fishing, and even a nature center (Independence Oaks)!  In addition, two waterparks offer a splashing good time as well as picnic areas. Get picnic details here.  Don't forget to consider adding a Mobile Recreation unit for loads of supervised fun for all!

Waterpark Destinations
Book your group at the Red Oaks or Waterford Oaks Waterparks for a day of fun and celebration. With giant waterslides, wave-action pools and spray areas for smaller visitors, your group will hardly have time to eat at the picnic shelters or concession stand. Call 248-858-0916 at least one week in advance to make reservations.
