Frosty Oaks Fest 2012

Bring the family
to Independence Oaks County Park
Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 from Noon - 4 p.m.
for the first-ever
Frosty Oaks Fest! 
(weather permitting) 

FREE COFFEE compliments of Caribou Coffee of Clarkston!

See box at bottom right for transportation to Frosty Oaks Fest from Catalpa Oaks County Park. Space is limited; register early!

Free Activities & Programs
Sledding • Ice Skating • Ice Fishing Snowshoeing • Outdoor Bonfires • Indoor Warming Shelter

Sledding tubes, fishing poles and snowshoes will be available but feel free to bring your own. Cross-country ski trails and ski rentals will also be offered during the event (weather permitting).

Petting Farm
Visit with a miniature horse, donkey, alpaca, goats, sheep, pot bellied pigs, bunnies and ducks. Take your picture with a live reindeer!

Guided Winter Walk
Join a naturalist to search for secrets in the snow.

StarLab
Enjoy a guided tour of the winter night sky in an indoor inflatable planetarium at Wint Nature Center!

Crafts
Make-n-take a snowflake catcher and learn some snow science.
Make-n-take a bookmark stamped with animal tracks.

Snow Art
The snowy landscape becomes your canvas as you get creative in the snow.

Snow Snakes
Discover this Native American winter contest! How far will your snow snake slide?

Food
Complimentary hot chocolate and s’mores!

PJ's Hot dogs and Kettle Corn of Michigan will have food available for purchase.


Free Activities!

Frosty Oaks

A 2012 Annual Vehicle Permit or daily pass is required for park entry. Permits or daily passes can be purchased at the park on the day of the event, or online.

Volunteers needed! 
20 volunteers needed for 2 to 6-hour shifts to help at each activity station. All volunteers receive free hot chocolate and a free waterpark pass!

Round-trip transportation to Frosty Oaks Fest is available from Catalpa Oaks County Park: 27725 Greenfield Road, Southfield, MI 48076.

Cost is $5/adults and $3/children 12 and under. Contact Sandy Dorey to register: 248-424-7077 or doreys@oakgov.com

Bus will leave Catalpa Oaks at 11:15am and return by 5:00pm. On-bus storage is available for sleds, snowshoes, cross-country skis, ice skates, etc.
