Winter Fun

When there's a chill in the air and snow begins to fall, Oakland County Parks heats up with winter fun! You'll find plenty of activity at the Oakland County Parks to keep your heart and emotions healthy.

EVENTS
Check out winter clinics and special activities on the Event Calendar or click for winter activities.

FAT TIRE BIKING
There isn’t a reason to stop cycling during the winter. Addison Oaks County Park offers groomed trails for fat tire biking. Fat tire biking is similar to mountain biking, except fat tire bikes are built on a frame specifically designed to support wide, knobby tires. These over-sized tires provide a smooth ride, so they fare very well on groomed, snow-covered trail surfaces all season long.

Addison Oaks County Park has 5.6 miles of groomed, multi-use trails available for cyclists, cross-country skiers and hikers as weather conditions permit. The 6-foot wide trail includes many hills and scenic views. It winds through the park and loops cyclists back to their original starting point.

SKI, SNOWSHOE OR HIKE
Open
skiing, snowshoeing and hiking for those with their own equipment is available at Glen Oaks, Red Oaks, Springfield Oaks and White Lake Oaks golf courses (no restrooms, groomed trails or warming areas.)

SLEDDING

The Family Sledding Hill at
Waterford Oaks County Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset or as posted at the gate. There is no admission or parking fee; just bring your own sled for exciting family fun! Portable toilets are available.

ICE SKATING
Ice skating
is available, conditions permitting, at Independence Oaks County Park.

ICE FISHING
Ice fishing is available at Addison Oaks, Independence Oaks, Orion Oaks and Rose Oaks county parks.

Enjoy a stress-free winter experience with these safety tips.
