Naming Contest Winner
We are proud to announce the winning entry of the Waterford Oaks Playground Naming Contest.

The winning entry was submitted by 9-year-old Royal Oak resident Benjamin Godfrey.  Thanks to the creative talent that Benjamin shared with us, the name of the new universally accessible playscape, opening this summer at Waterford Oaks County Park is...

We want to thank everyone who participated in the Playground Naming Contest.  Benjamin's entry was selected from nearly 200 proposed names. Many outstanding entries were received which made the evaluation process difficult.  The entries certainly showcased the creative talents of our area's children and we are very excited to have had such an enthusiastic response from the community.

Unfortunately, a few excellent entries were disqualified due to possible trademark infringment, including "Destination Imagination" submitted by 10-year-old Elizabeth Kroll of Waterford.

The Paradise Peninsula Playscape, opening this summer at Waterford Oaks County Park, is designed to showcase the beauty of Michigan’s unique, natural landscape.  This playscape is comprised of natural and simulated rock features, simulated waterways, creative and interactive landscaping, sand and “fossil” features instead of standard stock playground equipment such as swings and monkey bars.
