The Fridge

The Fridge will be closed for the upcoming 2009-2010 season. Major renovations are needed to repair the toboggan run. At this time, the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission has opted for further study before committing to costly repairs. Under consideration is a possible reconfiguration of The Fridge as part of a more comprehensive winter sports complex. Currently, a 10-year Master Plan is being developed for Waterford Oaks County Park.

The sledding hill is also closed, but sledders can find action at the following two locations
(call ahead for conditions: 1-800-477-2757):

Kensington Metropark
22 W. Buno Road, Milford

Indian Springs Metropark
5200 Indian Trail, White Lake

Lookout Lodge at The Fridge
For this season only, the Lookout Lodge will be available for rent this winter! Featuring a fireplace, deck, scenic overlook and ample parking, Lookout Lodge is a picturesque setting for winter festivities, including holiday, retirement and family parties as well as showers and weddings. Call 248-858-0916 for reservations.

The Fridge is Michigan's first refrigerated toboggan run, open during the winter season at Waterford Oaks County Park.

Riders swoosh down a 55-foot drop then zip along 1,000 feet at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour. Toboggans provided and transported by park staff. Fight the fear factor as you carry the toboggan up three flights to the tower's launch pads.

  • Keep the digits warm -- mittens or gloves must be worn.
  • Must be 30 inches tall to ride.
  • Children under 43 inches tall must be accompanied by an adult.
